Let Me Choose

Let me choose is the simple message that we, the Humanist Society of Scotland, wish to give to Members of the Scottish Parliament about the End of Life Assistance Bill. We invite you to join us in sending this message.

We want to see this Bill passed into law because it provides a choice for those people who seek to end their lives with dignity and the protection of the law.

In our judgement the provisions of the Bill:

  • Allow an important choice for us as individuals
  • Give us the right to determine the timing of our own death
  • Provide clear and robust protection against abuse.

We find some of the objections to the Bill to be ill-informed, deliberately misleading and quite irrational.

We believe the current provision of palliative care and the Palliative Care Bill to be consistent with the End of Life assistance Bill.
